Five Symptoms Every Woman Should Know

Women's bodies and health issues are very different from men's...and so are the symptoms we can experience. There are five major symptoms every women should know and NEVER ignore:

#5 Unexplained weight loss

While weight loss can be a good thing, it is the unexplained weight loss...a sudden drop in weight that cannot be traced to changes in diet or exercise habits, which can be dangerous.

It’s not just the weight loss itself; it’s how fast the weight comes off. A loss of 5% or more of your body weight over a month would be very unusual and should be looked at. The weight loss could be tied to a medication side effect, a thyroid condition, an ulcer, or cancer.

#4 Severe headache

All of us have headaches; it is the intensity or the severity of a headache that can be an issue. If you experience the worst headache of your life or perhaps in part of the head where you have never experienced a headache before, watch out!

This could simply be a sign of a migraine. However, this could also be an indicator of an aneurysm or meningitis (both emergencies).

#3 Trouble breathing

If you are sitting quietly or doing something that normally would not make you short of breath and you suddenly or gradually experience an increased breathlessness or tightness in the chest, this may be an indicator of an asthma attack or something as life threatening as a pulmonary embolism.

#2 Pressure in your chest

If you feel pressure or a feeling of discomfort in the chest, this is a sign of a heart attack. And be aware, it is not an obvious chest-crushing pain, but rather a pressure or uneasiness in your chest, arms, jaw, back and/or stomach.

#1 Difficulty speaking and/or seeing

If you suddenly find that you cannot speak or are having trouble pronouncing a word, you may be having a stroke.
